Illustrating Yemen in Crisis and Black Lives Matter

Rachel Cottrell

In 2020, the world is experiencing more societal upheaval than COVID-19 alone. Yemen’s fate hangs in the balance due to the impact of Coronavirus, as well as from five years of war; its people are vulnerable as a result. In the USA, the Black Lives Matter movement has started a huge cultural shift. It is essential that voices of Black people are amplified and supported at this time to consequently change outdated mindsets, laws, and systemic racism.

These illustrations were created as a contribution to The Meridian (@themeridianmag) which analyses these current events in depth.
