studies in still life and landscape (2017)
The Still Life and the Landscape are two of the most traditional processes practiced in classical art. Whilst my own work remains contemporary, it has been inspired by various 17th century painters who practised these styles upon canvas.
Combining modern photographical processes with antiquated styles, the work raises questions on the authenticity and reality that a photograph presents. The compositions are soft and romantic but exploratory at their heart, looking at the commonalities and boundaries between the fine arts and photography, resulting in a visual style that floats somewhere in-between both practices.
