This work was created as a means of challenging my existing practice, which centred around using a studio to create work, typically commercial advertising-style work. For the project that this image came from, I looked to create work still in a studio, but that didn’t give the appearance of being from a studio shoot.
To do this I continued with my interest in shooting liquids, and experimented with dyes to create imagery, in the case of this work I was looking at photographs taken by telescopes such as Hubble of formations in the vast atmosphere of space.
The entire body of work I generated around this time revolved around planning and experimentation, working towards results that I was satisfied with was a process of continuous trial and error, trying to deduce what was working and what wasn’t.
