Smile When it Rains was created as a part of my university project in BA3a. I have always favoured shooting landscapes on nice days; however, this shoot took a turn when heavy rain hit me. This made me look at the landscape differently as the big views became simple silhouettes. At first, it was difficult and all I could focus on was how wet I was getting. Once at the top of the big hills, I couldn’t stop laughing and smiling and I’m not even sure why. It became a shoot like I had never experienced, and I loved it! It allowed me to discover the beauty of rain, the unexpected and nature. I felt like a child again going out in the rain and jumping in puddles. I forgot how something as basic in rain can make you feel so free in that moment. In this shoot I discovered rainy landscape photography and a feeling in myself I haven’t felt in a long time. This experience will have an essence in my practice and I will not forgot it.
