My current project documents a series of coastal landscapes around my childhood home and highlights the environmental issues that globally coastal communities are experiencing. When shooting for this project I felt this overwhelming idea of nostalgia, beaches that I used to play on as a child have drastically changed to a point where I don’t remember how they looked 10 years ago. The changing coastline series is open to interpretation but ultimately the images represent different environmental issues the Suffolk coast currently faces. The lighting was very important to my images and how I wanted to portray the landscapes. I feel by using the light muted toned lighting it disempowers the subject which is a very interesting viewpoint. The soft lighting also adds this interesting idea of fragility to the subject it.
