Responding to the Sainsbury’s vision of creating a space to ‘experience art as part of their everyday environment’ I observed the layout of the ‘Living Area’, the SCVA’s permanent collection as well as the display cases that house the collections artefacts to create an edition of cushions to be sold alongside and within the gallery.

Exploring industrial structures to create a design that is both informative and decorative.

I researched the display cases by producing simple pencil sketches which included the shadows formed by the play of light from the interior of the building. This then led to me isolating each layer and merging it with the collections plan view. Using a dark grey and white to reflect light and dark, but incorporating a yellow which links back to high tech architecture.
